Link to Documentaries

I've added another link to a user with complete documentaries on youtube. One of these is The Pervert's Guide to the Cinema (Sophie Fiennes, 2006), a great film exploring cinema through Lacanian psychoanalysis. It is narrated by the philosopher Slavoj Zizek and distills many of the ideas discussed in his various books, most notably Looking Awry: An Introduction to Jacques Lacan Through Popular Culture (1991). I just re-read Looking Awry after many years and I think it remains a fascinating read and about as accessible as Lacan can get.

Directions

Seoul Cinematheque and Film Forum: located near exit 5 of the subway sub Chongno-3(sam)-ga, which is located on lines number 1, 3 and 5, although access is quicker from line 5. It is not the easiest place to find, but if you keep straight after coming up the stairs of exit 5 and go under the overpass you should see film posters on your left. Go into the building and up to the 4th floor. You should see the box office outside.

Arthouse Momo: located in the Campus Complex of Ewha Women’s University, Line 2, Exit 2 or 3. Once you enter the main gate, the campus complex is up and then on your right. Enter through gate 3 of the complex and turn left, the theatre is down the hall. There are also maps at the gate to find the campus complex, and outside the campus complex in order to find the theatre.

Cinecube: located at the Gwanghwamun subway stop, line 5, exit 6.

Dongseung Cinematheque: located at Hyehwa Station (line #4); take exit 1, and walk towards Hyehwa Rotary (should be 2 minute walk).

Korea Foundation Cultural Center: City Hall subway stop, exit 9.
